Support clubs that play live music! Support your local bands!

If you are one of the fortunate people in the world that enjoy and are able to listen and dance to a live band, you are more fortunate then you may realize.

Those of you who have danced to live music know the difference. The energy and excitement when listening to horns, congas, violins, live. The bands play off the energy of the crowd and vice versa. Nothing comes close to that experience. In the 'old' days of social dancing, you would go somewhere to see and hear 'the band'.

Disco in the 70's changed that. And soon club dancing became less about the quality of the music, and more about... well, so many other things. Now many dancers choose to frequent clubs that don't offer live music in order to save a few dollars. This is unfortunate because not only do they miss out, but they hurt the creators of the music we enjoy so much.

Clubs that host live music are worth the extra effort. Supporting these clubs that showcase local bands and musicians, allow them to survive. By supporting the bands we encourage them to continue creating, producing and performing the music that moves us when we dance.

One such L.A. Club is currently threatened with closure. What makes it even sadder is this club is not only the classiest of the L.A. Clubs, but also boasts the best sound system for the music, and wood sprung dance floor for the dancers. If it closes we will lose more then just a nights hangout.

On a more positive note, one local L.A. band that frequented this club has finally released their first album. It was the support of us, the dancers and music lovers that allowed them to achieve this. Their album is fantastic, and you will hear more about it later, but now I think the title song from their new CD sums up their love for us... please have a listen.
