$3,000 First Place - Professional Division 
(2nd-$2,000, 3rd-$1,000)

Rules and Regulations

1.  All participants will receive a white 3x5 card where the rules and regulations will be printed.  This card entitles you and your partner free admittance to the club on your competition date.  Do not wait in line.  Go to the front of the line. 

2.  Please come together with your partner.  Report to the registration area at the basement lounge before 10:00pm and report to the registration area at the basement lounge.  Otherwise you will not be eligible for the lotto to enter the contest as an alternate.

3.  If you are on stand-by, you and your partner must present this card by 10:00 pm and report to the registration area at the basement lounge.   Otherwise you will not be eligible for the lotto to enter the contest as an alternate.

4.  The number at the top of your card is your registration number  This number will be used for all lotto and registration material here after.

5.  If you are on stand-by and are not chosen as an alternate, you much keep this card, and enter the lotto as many times as you wish.  Just present it at the door and follow the rules above. 

6.  If you are registered to compete and cannot make it,  please call Patty or Miguelangel at the Mayan as soon as possible to reschedule.

7,  In case you have any questions, please go to the registration area in the main lobby.

CONTEST RULES

1.  To ensure FAIRNESS of the contest, the winners of the preliminary rounds will be chosen by the audience applause.  Semi-final and final rounds will be chosen by a panel of 5 professional judges and 4 members selected from the audience.  

2.  Proper attire must be worn.  Costume encouraged.

3.  Contestants must sign-up in person, show valid I.D. and be at least 21.

4.   If money has been accepted for teaching, professional performances, or first prize winners of Mayan's [Amateur] contests, you are considered professional and must enter the professional division. 

5.  If one partner is considered professional, then both partners must enter the professional division.

6.  Contestants must arrive at the Mayan by 10:00pm otherwise you will be disqualified.

7.  Preliminary rounds will be limited to 1 1/2 minutes.  DJ's will choose the music.

8.  The order of contestants will be determined the night of the contest.

9.  No new contestants may enter after the preliminary rounds are over.

10.  No one may change partners after the preliminary rounds are over.

11.  Contestants may re-enter the contest as many times as desired with the same or different partners until they become semi-finalists.

12.  Contestant eligible for the semi-final and final rounds can bring their own music (CD Only!) for a maximum of two minutes.

13.  Competitors must show proper etiquette during the contest by refraining from distracting behavior as contestants are dancing. 

14.  No video cameras allowed.

15.  All decisions are final!
