May, 1997.... Salsaweb Staff: I'd like to thank everyone that came over last night for the Frontpage class. Thanks for being so patient. And oh yea, thanks for leaving me ONLY ONE SLICE OF PIZZA.... This is the dawn of a technological new age, and Salsaweb plans on being on the forefront. Ben is constantly on the lookout for faster, better, and more "cool techy things" to do with the site every day. He is an expert at not only design and layout, but with keeping up with the latest and greatest tools and techniques on the net. With the new layout, audio, video, chatboard, city information, and the "quality" of our articles, we're leading the pack in the Internet world. The only way we can help Salsa music and dancing survive and thrive is by bringing the best and latest information to the our readers in the most expedient way possible. Updates are coming into the site at an alarming rate - averaging over 20 updates to world cities a day, 10 new ideas per day, 10 questions, 10 garbage mail, and 10 from fellow Salsaweb world correspondants... The more emails I get, the more I realize that we are all a part of something that is bigger than all of us. The "international" impact Salsaweb Magazine is causing throughout the world is explosive - much bigger than I had realized. This is evident from the rave of compliments through personal emails (not just the guestbook) we receive on a continuous basis from readers all over the world. Readers love our unique and informative "content". We don't slow their sytems down by barraging them with pretty pictures and fancy java scripts/animation. We get complimented CONSTANTLY on the "quality of the written material - the words spoken". Everyone is impressed with the new format, the features, the interviews with famous artists, dancers, and instructors, I still have over 30 hours worth of audio and video to sort through and write about from the trip. We need to be ready for some pretty tough growing pains this next year. Please bear with each of us and be patient. We're all learning "dis ting, togetha...." Just to let you know, we are now THE LARGEST Salsa/Mambo Dance website now on PLANET EARTH. EVERYBODY wants to be part of our team. Everybody I talk to wants to be affiliated with Salsaweb in one form or another. We were very picky as far as who we chose to have access to the site. We wanted individuals who care about the growth and direction of Salsa/Mambo, are ambitious, work hard, take responsibility, and are computer literate. We wanted only the best of the best to be a part of our team. We trust you, hence we have given you access to the entire site. (Just don't hit the "DELETE" button anywhere, OK?) I want to do a documentary on how Salsaweb got started. Wouldn't that be cool? I'd like to set a goal. I'd like to showcase Salsaweb on Larry King Live to talk about the phenominal growth Mambo/Salsa, music and dancing, and how it was revived BECAUSE of the Internet... Any goals you want to see done with Salsaweb? |
