Take Care of Her
By Edie, The Salsa FREAK

Gentlemen, take care of your women on the dance floor. Respect her, and remember, it’s all about her. She is the picture, you are the frame.

"Edie, I’ve had guys actually pull up my fallen dress strap, or zip up the back of my dress while we’re dancing. At first I was surprised… but found myself smiling, pleasantly. I couldn’t wait to dance with them again."

Gentlemen, take care of your women on the dance floor. It’s OK. Baby her. Love her. Don’t throw her around, yank on her arm, or accidentally ram her into another couple. Take care of her. She is your precious gift for those wonderful three minutes. Trust me, she’ll appreciate you if you appreciate her.

"Edie, in the middle of a move, this guy gently pulled back the hair off my face, then wiped off the sweat from my forehead with his handkerchief. It was the most romantic, gentleman-like thing I’ve ever experienced in my life. I wanted to dance with him again and again."

If you see your partner is having an outfit problem, accept her, help her, be tender with her. If she’s self-conscious about her dress flying up, don’t put her into multiple spins for five minutes. If she hangs on to you for dear life during a dip, don’t continue dipping her. If she has a balance problem, don’t keep spinning her.

"Edie, my skirt kept creeping up on me while dancing, and this guy kept helping me pull it down several times in between moves! He even made it part of his turns! I’m not wearing that skirt again…

(long pause…)

…or wait a minute…"

Remember, the dance floor is the same as life.

  • Women want to be taken care of.
  • Women want to be noticed.
  • Women don’t want to get hurt.
  • Women want all your attention
  • Women will rant and rave about a great leader.
  • Women will appreciate kindness and love from a man.
  • Women will be faithful to a man that makes her feel like a woman out there.
