When You’re Not Feeling It…

LEAVE!! 

No one wants to see your floppy sad face on a Salsa night. 

  • They will ask you what’s wrong. 

  • They will start talking. 

  • They will tell you look tired. 

  • They will think you’re upset. 

  • They will avoid you like the plague and no one will want to be around you. 

  • They will wonder if it’s “them” you’re trying to avoid. 

People are crazy.  Sometimes I wish they would just mind their own business, but GET THIS THROUGH YOU HEAD RIGHT NOW.  You can’t change or fix anyone nor their thoughts.  People are going to do what they will do.  And they will think what they will think. 

Remember this simple sentence.  “A person convinced against their will is of the same opinion still.”  - Wise words to live by.

There are a MYRIAD of reasons why you may not “feel it” that night.  And it’s not because of your lack or non lack of dancing skill. 

It may be…

  • You just danced with someone that smelled like alcohol and you wanted to gag.

  • You just danced with someone that had tobacco or garlic breath, and it completely grossed you out.

  • Some female just STRUCK OIL on the top of your foot with HER SPIKE HEEL.

  • A cheap, non-old-school “Salsa Romantica” song of the mid- 90’s just came on that you can’t stand. 

  • Your ex and his/her new “main squeeze” just showed up and you just don’t feel like being there anymore. 

  • You have indigestion. 

  • You didn’t get any sleep the night before because of the LAST club you were at kept you up till 5am, and you had be at WORK at 9am. 

People if you’re not feeling it, but don’t want to leave, the Salsa bug has bitten you HARD. 
You are considered an “AA” member:  “Absolutely Addicted”.  Don’t worry about it, being a member of AA is a good thing.   .;)    
You’ll find other AA members everywhere as well.  We’re all over the world, and have meetings every night of the week at Salsa nightclubs. 
It’s pretty cool.  

Try this.   The following is what has worked for me, EVERY TIME.  

The MINUTE the night starts going downhill, and you’re “just not feeling it”…. But don’t want to leave…

  • Start moving.  Do the basic and hit some heavy-duty shines.  Close your eyes and start feeling the hypnotic pulsating rhythms of the music.  Get into the intoxicating beats of the percussion.  Relax, and feel the music sweep you away…

If that doesn’t work… try this.

  • Take your body to another brighter area of the room.  Energy is different in different areas of nightclubs.  Good and bad energy travels to different sections of the room, depending on the people and lighting. 

  • Ask the bartender for a cup of COFFEE or RED BULL.  Some caffeine stimulant. 

  • Go and rest in the restroom/WC/Toilet.  Take a seat for five to ten minutes, close your eyes, and get a small nap in with your head resting on your hands, which are propped up on your knees.  (I’ve done this, it actually works) 

  • Go to your car and take a 15 to 30 minute nap.  Make sure you always carry ear plugs and an extra pillow in your car.  (I do). 

The point is, that you must ‘LEAVE’ the premises to where no one will see you in this “state of misery mind” you’re currently displaying to world, without you even realizing it.  Once you get over you’re “Not feeling it” feeling, and you’re still there, you will feel better that you stuck around!
